Have you changed your winter tires ? Some people choose to keep them during the summer, as a way to save some money. But this strategy can brings some issues that should keep in mind before making a decision.

The first issue come from the way winter tires are designed. A good winter tire naturally offers more resistance and is built to remain flexible even in cold temperatures. Given the summer heat we have seen in recent years, a winter tire will wear down much faster and will also increase your fuel consumption.
Premature tire wear also brings a number of safety concerns, such as longer braking distances and a risk of blowouts caused by the heat. So in addition to costing you more, keeping your winter tires on during the summer can literally put you in danger. We therefore recommend switching to a tire suited to your driving style and the road conditions in your region as soon as possible.
CAA-Québec recommends planning your tire changeover around mid-April, or as soon as temperatures consistently reach 7°C. We are currently in the peak of the changing-season for garages, which are working tirelessly to get drivers ready for summer.
