First opened as a trading post, Senneterre received its first inhabitants in 1904. The Bell River and the Transcontinental railway helped accelerate the development of the town which became a forestry, commercial and touristic center.
Located approximately 60 kilometers northeast of Val-d'Or and nine kilometers southeast of Belcourt in Abitibi, the City of Senneterre is an important crossroads in the region. Fishing and outdoor enthusiasts will certainly find what they are looking for, whether for a break or an extended stop.
